Showcasing Smyrna

Smyrna shows its community spirit all year long with seasonal celebrations, parades and special events. Fall is not complete without a visit to a pumpkin patch! Walden Pumpkin Farm has acres of pumpkins, food and activities for the young and young-at-heart.

There are 10 parks and a public golf course for residents and visitors to enjoy. Gregory Mill Dam Park includes a splash pad, picnic area with pavilion, grills, nature trails, fishing, beach, canoeing, historic mill and dam. Its open year round and each season brings a new ambiance to the stunning park.

The town dates back to the 1800s and was named for a Bible passage in the Book of Revelations. During the Civil War Smyrna’s train station was an important stop linking Nashville and Chattanooga. When he was captured, Confederate soldier Sam Davis did not succumb to pressures from the Union to divulge information and he was hung on November 27, 1863. Visitors to Smyrna can learn more about the railways, the details of the events surrounding Smyrna’s role in the Civil War, and Sam Davis when they visit the Sam Davis Plantation.

In 1941 Sewart Air Force base was built as a training facility which continued to operate through the 1960s. The Smyrna Nissan plant was the first Japansee plant to open in the United States. Today, tours of Nissan are open to the public by reservation. Visitors can learn how the vehicles are made, the technology and equipment used in the process, and the dedication and skill of those who work in the plant. Tours of Nissan offer a unique behind-the- scenes opportunity.

As part of the Great Tennessee Airshow, the Smyrna Airport welcomes the Blue Angels flight team from the US Navy. This is a spectacular event of choreographed flying skills, breathtaking aerobatic demonstrations and formation flying that captures the attention and respect of all who see the show.

US News & World Report named Smyrna one of the best places in the US to retire and L & L Contractors wants to help you have the home of your dreams. Call us today for a home inspection and evaluation!

Waterfalls, museums and whiskey, oh my! No wonder we’re pleased about being the contractor of choice for the residents of Tullahoma, another great service location for L & L Contractors.
